Field Day 2020

Hits: 383

Field Day 2020 was an odd one.  ARRL changed rules, we had no social gathering component; it was not the way any of us prefers things.  In spite of this we had some members that were very active.  We are still seeking pictures so if you have any please send them to WB5RDD@WB5RDD.ORG.  We have two specific submissions, one from Charles (WA5VHU) and Cindy (KD5CCB) Penry and another from Johnny Thomas (WB5JT).  Of note, the Penry’s were the only operators that submitted a plan to Club Trustee Kelly Collins and so they were able to operate using the Club Special Event 1×1 Call Sign – W4W!

A couple of more bits of info, courtesy of the N3FJP logging software. The first shows a map of the states contacted, the second is a graph is of our activity. At about 2:00 AM local time Saturday night/Sunday morning the bands went quiet and we had already contacted what few stations were still on the air at that time of night/morning. We made the decision to go to bed and get back on in the morning, hoping folks would come back and get on the air, and they did.
